“Catherine”, or Russian Beadlace, originating from Russia, is made up from small components: leaves and starflowers.
The leaves are stitched in a diagonal peyote stitch, which gives the work the drape of a bias cut piece of fabric.
The starflowers are stitched in the round in a couple of layers.
The leaves and flowers are stitched together. You can stitch them together as in the sample or you can also use them to create your own design. Once you learn the basic techniques, you can create bracelets, earrings, necklace or even bigger wearable or decorative pieces. The possibilities are endless!
This is a beginner friendly class. The class is one full day (11:30 to 5pm) and one half day (11:30 to 2:30pm) . The $40 beading kit includes everything you need for the class and is included with the price of the class, You can pick up the kit on the first day of class.
